PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
  • Research: Formalized curriculum and mentorship to assure success in scholarly activity

  • Community: Training and active resident participation in community programs including legislative advocacy, ask the doc sessions and community dance lessons

  • Behavioral Health: Our AIM initiative (Ask, Identify, Manage) trains residents in suicide risk assessments and anxiety/depression care.

  • Global Health: formalized, experiential curriculum

  • 12 Residents per year

  • Historically, 50% of each class enters fellowship and 50% enters either private practice or hospital medicine

  • Over 100 faculty, representing 23 pediatric and surgical subspecialties

  • 34 bed inpatient unit; 15 bed PICU

  • Regional level 3 NICU and high risk MFM program

LOCATION

Beautiful area in northwest NJ equidistant from NYC and the Pocono Mountains. Great hiking, biking, restaurants and museums.

CURRICULUM
  • 13 block academic year

  • PICU as interns

  • PGY2 Resident as Teach block in our system’s community hospital, Overlook Medical Center

  • Flexibility to innovate individualized curriculum months

  • Transition to Residency series

  • OMM education through monthly clinic sessions and hands-on didactic sessions

DIVERSITY INITIATIVES
  • Stand-alone monthly conference, as well as material integrated across the continuum on Social Determinants of Health, Diversity and Inclusion

  • Minority Clerkship for Students, includes Faculty and Resident mentor opportunities

  • LGBTQIA conference series
